Overview
RecapAI is an intelligent audio transcription and summarization platform designed to capture spoken conversations and turn them into structured, readable knowledge. The project focuses on reducing information loss in meetings, lectures, and discussions by automating transcription and summarization. The system combines edge hardware with cloud-based AI processing, allowing users to record audio effortlessly and access clean summaries through a web interface.
Problem
Important information from meetings and lectures is often lost due to manual note-taking, distractions, or lack of proper recording tools. Existing solutions are either expensive, overly complex, or disconnected from real-world hardware setups.
The challenge was to design a system that captures audio reliably, processes it using AI, and presents clear outputs — while keeping the workflow simple, scalable, and suitable for real-world environments.
Solution
RecapAI was designed as an end-to-end pipeline, starting from audio capture on a Raspberry Pi and ending with AI-generated transcriptions and summaries on the web. Audio is recorded at the edge, securely uploaded to the cloud, processed using speech-to-text and language models, and then displayed through a lightweight dashboard.
The architecture focuses on modularity, allowing each layer, hardware, backend, AI, and frontend, to evolve independently.
My Role
I designed the overall system architecture and implemented the backend processing pipeline, AI integrations, and cloud communication, ensuring smooth data flow from hardware to user-facing outputs.
